I am an artist and designer based in Hastings, NE.
By day, I inspire and guide budding talents as a community college teacher in graphic design, shaping the next generation of visual storytellers. It is the best job in the world analyzing packaging, logo design, and illustrations, and guiding my students to design strong brand identities. I greatly emphasize real-world experiences and work with local community partners to give students real clients to design for. Seeing their work out in the community is truly the best experience.
As an artist, I am inspired by my surroundings, finding rejuvenation and inspiration in outdoor adventures and travel. Exploring new landscapes, cultures, and experiences broadens my artistic perspective and fuels my creativity. From scaling majestic mountains to wandering through bustling markets, I absorb the intricate details of the world, infusing them into my artwork and design projects.
I studied fine art at Hastings College and was fortunate to travel with a group of artists to Corozal, Belize for my first large-scale mural project. This ignited my passion for mural art as I saw firsthand the impact it could have on the local community. Murals are a way to celebrate culture, represent history, revitalize the local economy, and welcome new visitors. Painting in public venues is a unique experience because the community is immersed in the entire process, not just the final result.
Beyond the realm of pixels and paintbrushes, my greatest source of inspiration is my family. My husband, Adam, and our three awesome kiddos, Joey, Emily, and Cole, are the heartbeat of my world. They remind me daily of the beauty in simplicity. Parenthood has added a unique dimension to my art, influencing my designs with a blend of whimsy, warmth, and a touch of the extraordinary.
I am a huge nerd and love all things Star Wars, Marvel, and Harry Potter. I will always be a kid at heart when it comes to these stories! I consider myself fluent in puns and combine this with my design skills to create memorable themed parties - especially when the Chiefs are in the Super Bowl! I will take any opportunity to celebrate life!
